R10 PAC Projects

The R10 Professional Activities Committee encourage all R10 Councils/Sections/Sub-sections/Chapters/Affinity Groups to promote Professional Activities and encourage their members to get the benefit by getting the certification in different professional development Online course sponsored on the basis of equal sharing formula by IEEE R10 and IEEE R10 OUs.

Introduction

This year, Director R10 Mr. Deepak Mathur has set the thrust areas for all three main domains of IEEE R10, based on the given thrust area (“Entrepreneurship and Career Development Programs”) for the professional activities. IEEE R10 PAC plan to help our student members, young professionals, professionals and life members to enhance their professional development skills and entrepreneurship skills which may help them for their career development and may become great professional and great leaders. 

Project Proposal Scope

The project Lifelong employability and Career prospects covers the two main areas:

  1. Online professional development certificate courses offered by IEEE Learning Networks
  2. R10 PA Entrepreneurship Initiatives  

Online professional development certificate courses offered by IEEE Learning Networks.

The IEEE Student members and higher grade may enroll in the following courses offered by IEEE Learning Network:

  • An Introduction to Leadership: A Primer for the Practitioner – USD 29.00
  • Developing Career Goals for Technical Professionals – USD 29.00
  • Engineering Ethics: Building a Strong Foundation – USD 29.00
  • IEEE Risk Management – USD 25.00
  • IPR Plagiarism Tutorial – USD 29.00
  • Leadership Development for Technical Professionals – USD 29.00
  • Learning Objectives: A Key to Better Teaching – USD 29.00
  • Peak Performance Leadership Part: The Leader as a Relationship Builder – USD 29.00
  • Peak Performance Leadership: Emotional Intelligence – USD 29.00
  • Stuff You Don’t Learn in Engineering School: People Skills – USD 29.00
  • Stuff You Don’t Learn in Engineering School: Communicating Effectively – USD 29.00
  • Technical Writings for Scientist and Engineers – USD 29.00
  • Transition into Management – USD 29.00

Terms and Conditions

  • The sections/sub-sections and council may nominate their members for the above mentioned certificate courses.
  • Each council/section/sub-section cannot nominate more than three members (one in each category)
  • Total 130 IEEE members can benefit from this program and enhance their professional development skills, following is the distribution among 130 members:
    • Student Members = 60
    • Young Professionals = 40
    • Women In Engineering = 30

  • The Councils/Sections/Sub-Sections can formulate their own rubrics for the selection of the members from above mentioned categories.
  • The IEEE OUs will equally contribute the charges for earning the certificate course (E.g. USD 29.00 can be equally shared between R10 and the relevant IEEE OUs)

Timeline

  • Call for Proposals Initiated: April 12, 2021
  • Deadline for Proposals:   May 18, 2021
  • Assessment period: May 21 – May 30, 2021
  • Final List of selected members announced: June 10,2021
  • Candidates must submit the copy of the certificate: November 10, 2021
  • Amounts Reimbursed to the successful candidates: November 30, 2021

R10 PA Entrepreneurship Initiatives

IEEE R10 PA Committee is inviting the nominations from R10 Sections/Councils/Chapters/Affinity Groups for R10 PA Ambassadors for Entrepreneurship initiative who will coordinate the outreach of the “Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Local Development” – an initiative of R10 PA Committee through organizing one Entrepreneurship event in Q2 of 2021 in collaboration with IEEE R10 relevant Committees. The event will contain Talks, panel discussions, success stories about tech entrepreneurship, local pitching competition, and promotion of the local & regional competition. 

The rules of the competition (R10 PA Startup initiative) themed on “Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Local Development” are:

  • Teams of 3-5 IEEE members from student and young professional, professionals & WIE category
  • Teams are allowed (and encouraged) to get external sponsors
  • Innovation is aligned with state-of-the art in sustainable engineering with Entrepreneurship and Local Development.

What they will get?

  1. Awards
    • Three Best awards for best host OUs (250.00, 150, and 100.00 respectively) will be granted to the local IEEE Organizational Units that host the best local competition and publicly-handed certificate at selected IEEE event.
  2. Best Pitching Teams:
    • Each participated section finalizes three best teams after successful completion of local competition. 
    • Best teams will be selected for mentorship phase,  
    • Team under the guidance of mentors will approach the relevant sponsor for getting funds and reaching the market successfully
    • All the winners of the Local OUs finalist (One Team per OU) will compete in the grand finale held virtually in 2021. (Details will be shared later).   
    • THREE Best Teams will be selected for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.
    • Al three best winner teams will be given a chance to present their idea in any R10 Flagship conference or R10 SYWL Congress. (Travelling and Hoteling expenses will be arranged by local OUs) 
    • Winning teams will be awarded USD 500.00, 300.00, and 200.00 respectively.  

Terms and Conditions

  • The sections/sub-sections and council may nominate their member for hosting the above mentioned Entrepreneurship Event.
  • Each council/section/sub-section can nominate One Ambassador
